About Marissa
I've been an artist most of my life, I love art! The journey into Art History and the realm of Islamic Art began during my senior year at George Washington Academy in Casablanca, Morocco. This experience provided a strong appreciation for Art History, shaping my academic path. I received a Bachelor's degree with a specialization in Islamic Art from CSULB. My knowledge was refined through an internship with the Art of the Middle East LACMA. Specific interests, such as the Akbarnama (Book of Akbar), by Abul Faz'l, and the Tabrizi and Herati styles, are personal interests of mine in the realm of Islamic Art. Teaching art history is not just about memorizing facts; it's about making learning engaging and inspiring. I'm dedicated to helping students understand the stories and cultural significance behind each piece, while strengthening their ability to critically analyze each work, executing excellent writing skills and confidence in art research and exams.

Hello! I’m Marissa, a BA graduate in Art History with an emphasis on Islamic Art, and I’m passionate about making art history approachable, relevant, and inspiring.
