About Rachel

I am a passionate Bachelor of Education (BEd) student currently completing my teaching internship. I love helping young learners grow, gain confidence, and discover that learning can be enjoyable, especially in Math.
My four years of experience as an au pair, combined with my classroom training, has given me invaluable experience with tutoring kids of all levels. I encourage mistakes in my lesson and will always put in the extra mile to ensure that your child does the best they can do.

I am patient, friendly, and organized, and I place strong emphasis on routine, consistency, and positive reinforcement. My aim is to create a warm, supportive environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and achieving their best.

About the lesson

My approach to private Maths tutoring is patient, structured, and learner-centered, with a strong focus on building foundational understanding and confidence.

What makes me unique as a tutor is my combination of formal teacher training and hands-on experience: I am currently studying towards a Bachelor of Education (BEd) and completing my teaching internship at a well-known primary school in Durban North, and I also bring four years of experience as an au pair, which allows me to support both the emotional and academic needs of learners.

Each lesson is well-prepared and adapted to the learner’s needs and goals. A typical Maths lesson includes revision of schoolwork, step-by-step explanations, guided practice, homework support, and ongoing encouragement to build confidence.
