About Aren

With over 20 years of experience working with children in both public school and after-school settings across California and New York, I am deeply passionate about helping students discover their voice and develop a love for learning. I have taught and managed programs in a wide range of communities, from privileged to underprivileged, always ensuring that every child feels seen, valued, and inspired. My expertise in social-emotional learning allows me to assess each student’s unique needs and craft engaging, personalized lessons that build confidence and spark curiosity. As an educator, storyteller, and creative, I bring literature and language to life through interactive lessons that blend reading, writing, movement, and hands-on activities. I create read-aloud animations that make stories even more engaging for younger children, bringing characters and narratives to life in a way that sparks imagination and joy. Whether we are exploring classic tales, crafting original stories, or developing essential literacy skills, my goal is to make learning exciting and meaningful. I am well-versed in Common Core standards and design lessons that not only meet academic expectations but also nurture creativity and self-expression. Beyond the classroom, I’m a Miniature Schnauzer lover and understand the importance of connection, patience, and care—qualities I bring into my teaching every day. Above all, I believe learning should be joyful, empowering, and engaging. My classroom is a space where students feel encouraged to take risks, think critically, and grow as learners. I am excited to bring my passion, experience, and dedication to my Outschool classes, and I look forward to guiding students on their educational journey!

About the lesson

As a passionate and experienced English educator, my goal is to help K-5 students find their voice and develop a genuine love for learning.

My teaching approach is highly engaging, student-centered, and rooted in social-emotional learning. I tailor each lesson to the individual needs of my students, using storytelling, movement, and hands-on activities to make learning fun and meaningful.

I incorporate Common Core standards while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and confidence in reading, writing, and communication.

A typical lesson begins with a warm-up activity to spark curiosity, followed by an interactive reading or writing exercise that connects to real-world themes. We might analyze a story, create our own narratives, or even bring characters to life through drama and animation. I always encourage discussion and reflection, ensuring that each student feels heard and valued.

What sets me apart is my ability to assess where a student is academically and emotionally, then craft lessons that truly engage them. With over 20 years of experience working in both privileged and underprivileged communities, I understand how to meet students where they are and inspire them to grow.

My lessons are designed for elementary students (K-5) at all levels, whether they need extra support in literacy, want to strengthen their writing skills, or simply love storytelling and want to explore it further. Above all, I strive to spark joy in learning and empower students to express themselves with confidence!
