About Oliver

Hello, my name is Oliver! I am a dedicated and patient tutor who specializes in mathematics, with additional experience in political science, social studies, and criminal justice. I hold a master’s degree in crime analysis, a program that required advanced statistical training, which has strengthened both my mathematical background and my ability to explain complex ideas clearly. What truly drives me as a tutor is helping students gain confidence. I understand what it feels like to struggle with math—when I was younger, it was my least favorite subject. Everything changed when a professor encouraged me and showed me that I was capable of succeeding. That turning point inspired me to not only master the subject but also to help others see that math doesn’t have to be overwhelming. As a tutor, I bring professionalism, patience, and enthusiasm to every lesson. I believe that with the right guidance and encouragement, any student can grow their skills and even enjoy the process of learning. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and ultimately achieving their academic goals.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on making math less intimidating and more approachable. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to their individual needs—whether that means breaking concepts into smaller steps, using real-world examples, or practicing through guided problem-solving.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of what the student already understands, followed by introducing new material in a way that connects to their prior knowledge. We spend time working through examples together, and I always leave room for questions and independent practice.

What sets me apart is that I know firsthand what it’s like to struggle with math—I used to dislike it myself until a great professor helped me see my potential. That experience drives me to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and grow.

My lessons are for elementary, middle, high school, and college students who want to strengthen their math skills, prepare for exams, or simply feel more confident in class. I also bring experience in political science, social studies, and criminal justice for students seeking help in those areas.
