About Louis-Victor

Hello! I’m Louis Victor, a French concert pianist and dedicated teacher based in London.

I began teaching piano nine years ago in France, and since relocating to London in 2019, I’ve been passionate about sharing my love for classical music with learners of all ages and levels, from children and teenagers to adults and retirees.

In addition to nurturing musical curiosity and enjoyment, I regularly help students prepare for graded exams and public performances. Whether you're learning for personal growth or working toward a specific goal, I tailor lessons to support your progress with clarity and purpose.

My approach combines strong technical foundations with expressive playing, while drawing from music theory, historical context, and repertoire understanding. I always aim to create a supportive, inspiring space where each student can build confidence, grow musically, and fully enjoy the journey.

Biography :

Described as “a young artist to watch closely” (Diapason), French pianist Louis-Victor Bak is based in London. After beginning piano at age 14, he studied at the CRR de Lyon before joining the Royal College of Music, where he studied with Edna Stern and completed his Bachelor and Master of Performance, supported by the Ilona Eibenschütz Award. He has performed at major venues including Wigmore Hall, La Seine Musicale, Royal Albert Hall, and Conway Hall, and has appeared across the UK, France, and Europe. Louis-Victor has worked with conductors such as Mathieu Herzog, Paul Newbold, Emilie Postel-Vinay and Paul Jenkins, and orchestras including Appassionato Orchestra, Dorking Philharmonia, Orchestre de la Bastille and the Knighton Chamber Orchestra. A laureate of several international competitions, he was a candidate at the 2024 Leeds International Piano Competition. His debut album, released in 2024 on Indésens-Calliope and dedicated to Debussy and Chaminade, was praised by Diapason, Classica and France Musique, and presented by Gautier Capuçon on Radio Classique.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, personality, and goals, whether you're learning for personal enjoyment, preparing for graded exams, or working toward a performance.

I strive to create a supportive, engaging environment where students feel both challenged and encouraged. My teaching combines technical and musical development from the very beginning, and I often incorporate music theory and elements of music history to provide context and deepen understanding.

Rather than applying a fixed method, I adapt my approach to suit each individual. Some students benefit from a more structured progression; others thrive with more exploratory or creative activities. For younger beginners, I make space for curiosity and play, while for more advanced students, I guide repertoire selection and performance preparation with care and precision.

I believe that expression, awareness, and enjoyment are just as important as accuracy and discipline. Helping students find their own voice at the instrument is at the heart of my teaching philosophy.

Lessons can be held in English or French, in person or online, either at the student’s home, or at mine in London, where I teach on a beautiful Bechstein grand piano.
