About James
I am a passionate lover of literature, having graduated with a firs-class honours degree in English Literature & Creative Writing with the Open University.
I am keen to help students with all aspects of studying English literature, from Shakespeare to the modern day, with a particular passion for 20th-century poetry and prose, as well as improving students' essay writing and close reading skills.
In a previous career I spent many years working in hospitality training apprentices, so feel comfortable working in a one-on-one environment with a student. I have both the patience and passion that is required to be a successful tutor and hopefully inspire my students on to greater things.
Regarding the current curricula I would leave students to decide which topics they feel they need to improve, and then provide a focused plan to achieve the desired results. I firmly believe that no two students learn the same way, therefore tailoring a plan to the student is the most important starting point.
