About Maddie

Struggling with math or just need clearer explanations? I can help.

I’m an experienced math teacher with a Master’s in Secondary Mathematics and Special Education, and a background in Actuarial Science. I’ve taught in public high schools in both New York City and Maryland, and now homeschool my four children while teaching high school math in a co-op setting.

I specialize in breaking down complex concepts into simple, understandable steps—especially for students who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or lacking confidence.

About the lesson

Every lesson is tailored to the individual student—there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to learning math.

I focus on breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps so students can truly understand what they’re doing (not just memorize procedures).We’ll work through targeted practice problems together, building both skill and confidence over time, and I incorporate real-world examples whenever possible to make concepts more meaningful.

I have experience working with a wide range of learners—from advanced students looking to be challenged to those who feel stuck or overwhelmed. With my background in Special Education and my experience as a homeschool mom, I bring a patient, flexible, and encouraging approach to every session.

I work with:
-Middle school students (fractions, pre-algebra, word problems)
-High school students (Algebra, Geometry, Statistics & Probability)
-Students who need a differentiated or supportive learning approach
-Homeschool families seeking instruction or course guidance

My goal is simple: to make math feel less intimidating and help each student build confidence, independence, and mastery.
