About Elliott

I am a patient, adaptable tutor who works especially well with students who may struggle with confidence, focus, or understanding new concepts. Having faced similar challenges myself, I prioritize building trust, self-awareness, and effective learning strategies so students can better understand their own needs and feel comfortable advocating for them. I am equally comfortable using a more traditional tutoring approach focused on strengthening understanding of the material and improving grades. Every session is oriented around the goals of the student and their family, and I communicate with parents in advance to ensure lessons are targeted, supportive, and effective.

About the lesson

Math anxiety is real, and it usually happens when concepts are rushed. My math lessons are designed to slow things down, break complex problems into bite-sized steps, and rebuild your student's confidence. Whether they are mastering fractions in 5th grade or tackling variables in Algebra 1, I focus on the why behind the math, not just memorizing formulas.

What a typical math session looks like:

Confidence Check & Homework Review: We start by reviewing recent assignments or test scores to target exactly where the gaps in understanding are.

Step-by-Step Breakdown: I use interactive examples and alternative explanations until we find the method that clicks for your student's unique learning style.

Stress-Free Practice: We work through problems together until they feel confident enough to try them independently, ensuring they are fully prepared for their next quiz or test.
