About Sam
Over the past 8 years, I have taught piano to nearly 300 students, including high school learners, college students, and adults, combining structured instruction with mentorship to help students develop technical skills, performance confidence, and a love for music.
My teaching philosophy emphasises consistent practice, discipline, and expressive performance, with a focus on posture, hand coordination, finger control, scales, arpeggios, rhythm, sight-reading, and musical interpretation.
I create goal-oriented lessons and teach effective strategies for home practice, and many students have performed successfully in recitals, competitions, and school programmes, while others have earned high distinctions in graded examinations.
My goal is to provide a motivating, supportive, and inspiring environment where students feel confident, capable, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

My piano teaching approach emphasises personalised instruction, flexibility, collaboration, and positivity. I observe each student’s learning preferences and tailor lessons to suit their needs. I prioritise strong technical foundations, including posture, coordination, timing, scales, and expressive phrasing.
Clear demonstrations and practical exercises help reinforce understanding. Flexibility ensures that students progress comfortably while still being challenged. Collaboration allows students to actively engage in their musical journey by setting goals and selecting inspiring repertoire.
I create a supportive environment where mistakes are viewed as valuable learning experiences. In addition to piano lessons, I teach music theory, ear training, sight-reading, and beginner composition to help students become confident, independent, and well-rounded musicians.
