About Abraham
Playing within the New York Philharmonic section keeps my own technique fresh while informing how I approach my 7 years of teaching. My studio welcomes everyone from 4-year-old beginners just starting their journey to high schoolers preparing for rigorous college auditions. These 7 years have taught me that physical ease is the foundation for everything else, so I emphasize the Rolland principles of full-body relaxation during our work together.
Do you feel physical tension when you try to play challenging passages? Working on shifting positions and left hand agility requires a patient, methodical, and warm environment to truly thrive.
I integrate tuning by ear, rhythm and timing, and vibrato into our regular practice sessions to build a strong musical identity. Sight reading and music theory are woven into our classical repertoire exploration to ensure you develop as a well-rounded musician. What specific musical goals are you currently trying to reach?

Focusing on the movement of the body is often more important than the exact placement of the fingers during our first few minutes. You might find it surprising that we often spend time on breathing or stance before even touching the bow to the string.
This 9.0 rated methodical approach prioritizes your freedom of motion to prevent injury and enhance tone production. A calm, warm environment is essential for these technical breakthroughs to occur naturally.
Students spend time mastering the intricacies of classical repertoire while reinforcing their rhythm and timing. We address shifting positions and vibrato by analyzing how the whole body responds to these technical demands.
Music theory and sight reading are taught as tools for better communication between the performer and the page. My goal is to ensure you feel complete physical freedom while playing. I help you master the violin through movement.
