About Mehdi

Since 2018 I have taught Persian language both independently as well as at language schools. In addition, I organise workshops and cultural events (e.g., museum tours, film nights, poetry workshops etc) together with a variety of experts in Persian language and Iranian culture.

About the lesson

I teach Persian across different levels of proficiency (i.e., beginners, intermediate and advanced). Beginner level For my standard beginners classes, I cover the Persian alphabet and sound system and teach you how to read and write individual words. You will also learn how to talk about your family relationships, the home, colours, numbers, daily routines, time, and education. By the end of this series of lessons, you will be familiar with beginner-level conversational skills and you will have a basic understanding of Persian grammar including personal pronouns, verb formations and conjugations, the present and simple past tenses, possessive forms and constructions, and other basic grammatical structures. The language of instruction is English, but I also use Persian to the extent that is feasible. I teach Persian grammar through doing exercises and role playing dialogues with the teacher or with fellow classmates. For this reason, both my group and privates lessons are interactive. After each lesson, I ask students to do homework where they can take the opportunity to submit the assignments and receive (written) feedback.

Perfect! Mehdi is an excellent tutor; he’s knowledgeable, uses excellent teaching resources and takes the time to work on pronunciation and grammar. He also has a lot of patience, which I appreciate as someone who’s still at an early stage with Persian. Finally he’s great at providing context for use of the language within Iranian culture and for helping students out at learning conversational phrases. I really recommend him as a teacher!

Details

Group lessons cost £15,- per hour (groups of at least 3 people) and private lessons cost £20,- per hour. I can also tailor a series of lessons to students' needs, in which case I charge £30,- per hour.
