About Petra

Slovenian born pianist Petra Peršolja was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance by the University of California Santa Barbara in June 2020. A year earlier she was awarded the UCSB Graduate Division Fellowship for the dissertation research on the topic of the Istrian Scale, the Young Artists Fellowship by the Manchester Music Festival and was featured by the CAMA Santa Barbara Masterclass series with pianist Richard Goode. Ms. Peršolja holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Hawaii and two Bachelor degrees of Music in Piano Performance from Rowan University in New Jersey, and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Ljubljana. Dr. Peršolja resides in Santa Clara, by Santa Clara University.

About the lesson

$60 for half an hour lesson. $80 for 45 minute and $100 for an hour lesson. Dr. Petra Persolja offers individually-tailored Piano Lessons, combining different methods for faster progress. Students learn how to play great-sounding music from the very beginning, while her long-term goal is to prepare students to be able to read and play any music. With Online or In-person Lessons, learning the piano with Petra is easy and fun! Piano lessons with Ms. Petra are of a different kind: tailored to get you playing well quicker, combining the right methods for each individual student, employing technology and her very own teaching style. With the mission to maximize the likelihood that her students make music their lifelong companion, Petra can help you and your child develop the love for piano that will last!

Perfect! Petra is an AMAZING piano tutor - the best we've ever had! She is energetic and patient at the same time, and can easily adapt her teaching style to children of different ages (and adult students!). She readily imparts her passion for music to the students, and our children are having fun and laughing throughout their lessons. Even more importantly, she encourages her students to be persistent, try their best, and challenge themselves. These lessons extend far beyond learning the piano - anyone is lucky to have Petra as a teacher!

My daughter started playing piano with Petra when she was about 8 years old and she’s almost 14 now. if it wasn’t for Petra, she would’ve quit a long time ago. Petra’s approach to teaching is based on first building a relationship with her students so that really helps the student stay engaged in the learning process. Petra is also very good at knowing when and how to push her students without coming off as harsh or mean. plus, Petra has a great personality. she makes playing piano fun for my teenager all the while holding her to a high standard.
