About Matthew
I graduated with a first class master's of chemistry degree from the University of Warwick and I am due to start a PhD in sustainable polymers in October 2020. I also achieved top grades in A level chemistry, physics, maths and history. Along with polymer chemistry, I specialised in organic and inorganic synthesis throughout my degree. I have vast practical experience of chemical research from my MCHEM project in polymer chemistry and my international placement at Chalmers University, Gothenburg, which was based on organic synthesis. I have previously helped my brother and sister with their chemistry GCSE and A level chemistry studies. I assisted them with the topics that they did not understand or struggled with, using the knowledge of chemistry I have built up over the years and an easy and logical approach to explaining concepts. Both my brother and sister achieved top grades in chemistry with A*s in GCSE and A level respectively. Throughout my degree I also explained difficult concepts to fellow students, which has helped them in assessed work and exams.

As a chemistry graduate I am looking to tutor people, studying either A level chemistry or GCSE sciences, online. I will look to pass on the chemistry knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my academic career in an easy and logical way. I will first engage in a conversation with you to identify which areas of your course that you feel you want to improve. My approach is then to explain each of those aspects and concepts that we identified through discussion and activities/questions. When we feel that you understand the concepts, we will go through some past exam questions so that you learn how to apply the concepts and knowledge to answer exam questions. I am an organised and logical person and so my lessons will be structured and I aim to explain key concepts in a logical and suitable way for my target audience. I am also happy to adapt if you wish to revise different content or would prefer the lessons structured in a different way.
