About Antonio Pio
I am a PhD candidate in Philosophy at University College Dublin, specialising in Ethics, Metaphysics, and Political Theory. With years of experience tutoring both high school and university students, I bring a deep understanding of complex philosophical concepts and a commitment to fostering critical thinking. My background as a former professional volleyball player and certified coach has instilled in me discipline, collaboration, and a strategic approach to teaching, which I integrate into my lessons. I have also received advanced training in teaching methodology at UCD, ensuring that my lessons are engaging, personalised, and effective. Additionally, I have co-founded a think tank and volunteered with several NGOs, earning a Certificate of Merit for my social service during the COVID-19 pandemic. My aim is to support students in building confidence and achieving academic success, while fostering a deeper understanding of philosophy and its real-world applications.

I take a personalised approach to tutoring, tailoring each lesson to the individual’s needs and learning style. My teaching methodology incorporates techniques from workshops and courses I’ve undertaken through UCD’s Teaching and Learning department, focusing on active learning, critical thinking, and structured discussions. I use a mix of Socratic questioning, real-world examples, and engaging exercises to ensure deep understanding and skill development. Lessons typically last 1–2 hours, providing ample time for exploration of complex topics.
