About Toshan
I am a first year PhD student at Queen Mary University of London. and am a budding battery scientist with aims to become a successful researcher in the field of battery modelling.
I have over six years of higher educational experience as a student, having studied at leading British universities such as the University of Cambridge, University of Surrey and Queen Mary University of London. Over this time, I have taught multiple students at A'level, undergraduate level and masters level.
In my teaching sessions, I aim to help students gain a fundamental understanding of concepts and then help them become confident in answering questions. Through my teaching process, I aim to build a students confidence and eventually help them master the subject matter.
This journey of learning is something I enjoyed as a student myself and is something I aim to help my students enjoy as well. This after all is the beauty of teaching, i.e. seeing someone develop from a nervous novice to a confident master.

I hold three degrees in electronic engineering at leading British universities including Cambridge, Surrey and Queen Mary. Over my almost 6 year higher educational experience, I have taught multiple students from GCSE level to Masters engineering level.
I am flexible in my teaching approach and will adapt to match each students requirements. However in general each of my classes tend to be 2 hours long. In the first 45 minutes, I aim to first help a student understand the fundamental concepts behind the subject matter. With this understanding, through the rest of the class, we will proceed to work on example problems with the aim of developing a 'muscle memory' for answering problems.
For example, with a concept such as integration for a math student. I will first aim to explain what an integral represents practically, and demonstrate this with some real world examples. After this, I will go through some worked examples with students and then work through questions a student may have. I will provide students with PDFs or written copies of all the theory and problems we have worked through.
Overtime, with enough practice, I will help students reach a level where they can read a question and know immediately the steps they need to do to answer a question. i.e. develop a 'muscle memory' for question answering, and hence maximize academic performance and instill passion.
All the while, I aim to keep students engaged and excited about their learning journey. The end goal is to help them reach their full potential in exams, and to become confident in their own abilities, and provide them with the life skills to learn about any complex subject, as long as they have the right mindset and approach.
