About Simon
I'm an artist and PhD student living in London. My current doctorate research is about the queering of nature through photography, drawing, mark making, scultural forms and installation.
Previously, I have gained an MA in Photography Art from Westminster University. I have exhibited in several exhibitions in the UK and abroad.
I have taught people of various ages and levels, both at workshops and at university level.
Being an artist and an art researcher makes me constantly question alternative ways of communicating and teaching, and I'm passionate about empowering other people to use art to express themselves.
Furthermore, I previously worked for art galleries and other cultural institutions, giving me an understanding of the art market and the art world at large.

My teaching methodology follows an interdisciplinary approach, using a mix of theories and art media, for the students to express their true full potentials.
I have given lectures in my university in London, and run workshops about photography, drawing and art and well being. I have also given presentations about my art research at various conferences in the UK.
My degree is in Photography Art, and after that I experimented with and undertaken drawing, performance and painting courses in various universities in London. I'm passionate about using art to express one's identity, culture and place in the world. The focus of my research makes me also passionate about equality, LGBTQ+ rights and ecology.
Having said that, I can taylor my lessons for any age and level. In the past, I've run a few art sessions for children with learning disabilities and visual impairment, having found that experience particularly inspiring and humbling.
My typical lessons start with a free first meeting, to understand the needs of the students, the goals they want to achieve, how and if I can be of any help, and to structure any future lessons. After that, each lesson is personally taylored to the student's needs, and can vary from a lesson completely focused on practice and techniques, like photography or painting for example, to lessons instead centred on theories in preparation for essays, exams or university entry requirements.

Perfect! Simon is an impressive artist whose work I admire a lot. He is a brilliant tutor who's made me realise the kind of artwork I want to create and given me advice on how to achieve my goals.
