About Abhirami

I completed a 4-year integrated Master’s degree in Physician Associate Studies, where I developed a strong interest in teaching and supporting students through OSCE and communication skills preparation. During my final year at uni, I volunteered to teach lower year students in OSCE and communication skills stations, which helped me build experience in guiding students through structured exam practice and feedback.

After graduation, I continued volunteering within clinical skills lessons, teaching and supporting students with both communication and clinical skills. This experience helped me further develop my confidence, teaching structure and ability to adapt sessions to different learning styles and levels of experience.

Alongside my degree, I have over 6 years of tutoring experience teaching a variety of age groups, including Secondary School, GCSE and A-Level science students. I consistently received positive feedback from students for my supportive teaching style, clear explanations and ability to simplify difficult concepts. This inspired me to expand my teaching into Medical and Physician Associate education.

For the first two years of my degree, I was taught alongside medical students, giving me valuable insight into how medical schools teach, assess, and mark communication and clinical skills. Having personally struggled at first with understanding mark schemes and how to consistently achieve top marks in OSCEs, I worked hard to develop effective techniques and structures that helped me succeed in exams. I now want to help students who may be struggling in the same way by sharing the strategies, structure, and confidence that made a difference for me.

About the lesson

My teaching style is tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning pace. Lesson length can vary depending on the areas you would like to focus on and the level of support required. I prioritise identifying weaknesses early and working on them through structured practice, detailed feedback and repetition to build confidence and improve performance.

When I first started uni, I personally found communication skills challenging. Over time, I developed effective techniques, strategies and “tips and tricks” that helped me improve significantly and succeed in OSCEs. Because of this experience, I understand the common difficulties students face and strongly believe I can help you improve drastically and build the confidence needed to pass your OSCE exams.

For the first two years of my degree, I trained alongside medical students, which gave me valuable insight into the standards, marking criteria and expectations commonly used in medical school OSCEs. This experience allows me to support both Medical and Physician Associate students effectively and understand exactly what examiners are looking for during assessments.

For communication skills, sessions can be topic-focused and adapted to your university curriculum or exam style. I also provide a variety of different clinical scenarios and station practice to help students become familiar with different OSCE styles and expectations. For OSCE preparation, I provide realistic practice scenarios, constructive feedback and guidance on both communication and clinical skills. I help students develop a clear structure for stations to maximise marks while working effectively within time restrictions.

I use checklists and domain based marking criteria aligned with what most universities use, helping students understand exactly what examiners are looking for and how to improve. I will also tailor sessions to your university curriculum to ensure preparation is as relevant and effective as possible.

Alongside my Physician Associate MSc qualification, I have over 6 years of tutoring experience across different subjects, with extensive experience teaching OSCEs, communication skills and clinical skills to both Medical and PA students during university and after graduation.

Lessons are suitable for anyone looking to improve their communication, clinical, or OSCE skills, including Medical and Physician Associate students at any stage of training.

After each lesson, I provide slides or summary materials for revision, as well as focused last-minute revision notes closer to exams to help students feel fully prepared and confident.
