About David
I am a Physics Graduate and offer friendly and patient lessons for Physics, Maths, and Chemistry, with a welcoming style for anxious students.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of East Anglia, and have experience tutoring GCSE students. I am happy to travel a good distance for in-person lessons as I understand many students can find these easier.
In the past I have taken pupils from a grade 4 to a grade 7 in their GCSEs within five months. I like to begin sessions by working with my pupil through anything they have been struggling with recently, before moving onto new topics, and practising familiar questions until confident, encouraging independent thinking, while remaining ready to help when needed.
I find it very rewarding to see a pupil begin to figure out difficult questions on their own without assistance, my goal is to help my pupils by not just memorising answers, but to teach them to be able to work out challenging topics and questions, even if they have not seen the concept before.
Some students struggle to speak to new people, I understand this as I was the same in school! I like to consider myself understanding and well adapted to helping students especially if they are nervous, I aim to deliver the best for all my pupils.

I have tutored GCSE Maths, Physics, and Chemistry in the past. I can do any of the three, or a combination during lessons.
I like to begin by firstly asking if there are any topics my pupil is struggling with, and if there are I explain and clarify them until they feel confident. After that, if you want, we can work together on any homework, or tasks set by teachers. If you would rather set these aside for practice outside of tutoring that is fine too!
During the lessons you can choose for us to either cover topics that you are currently being taught, get a head start on something you've not done yet, or simply practise something you have already seen.
If mock exams I usually focus on practising with past papers. I like to let pupils answer as much as they can without me interfering, but I remain close by for any and all questions, or help if they need, and if the paper is particularly difficult or contains new topics, I usually work through the paper myself, and give pupils the opportunity to test their understanding, as well as show how one can go about solving new and unfamiliar questions, even if you haven't prepared for them!
If you are enjoying the lesson but our time is up I will make sure we finish the section we are on before I leave, I make sure to keep an empty window around any lessons, so we do not feel pressured by a strict time limit.
If I go over time that's on me, I certainly will not extra charge beyond what we agreed upon!
