About Piya
I am a Physics tutor with over 4 years of experience and an MPhil in Physics. My teaching takes a holistic and interdisciplinary approach, connecting physics with art and restoration. I explore how light interacts with pigments, study the physical properties of materials, and explain principles behind conservation science.
I use real art historical examples to make concepts tangible and relatable. Students learn about non-destructive testing methods that help analyze and preserve artworks without causing damage. My sessions cover material analysis, color behavior, and the science underlying restoration techniques. I work closely with art history students, conservationists, and anyone fascinated by the physics behind cultural heritage.
I emphasize understanding the physical principles that govern materials over memorizing formulas. Hands-on examples and demonstrations help illustrate complex ideas clearly. My teaching approach focuses on making Physics simple, clear, and interesting for students at school and university levels. I cover core subjects including Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, States of Matter, Gas Laws, Fluid Mechanics, and Energy Systems. Lessons are systematic, breaking down complex macroscopic behaviors into small, understandable steps. I combine theory with practical experiments to show concepts in action.
I am very hands-on as a gadget hacker and experimentalist, encouraging students to explore and test ideas themselves. Concepts like energy, work, and heat become easier when students see them in real-life applications. I provide consistent feedback to track progress and strengthen understanding. I emphasize problem-solving and critical thinking, helping students apply concepts to both exams and assignments.
Each session is structured to build confidence and mastery over difficult topics. I encourage questions and active participation, creating a learning environment where students feel supported. Together, we focus on understanding principles, not just memorizing formulas. My goal is to help students excel, enjoy learning, and develop a lasting curiosity for Physics.
