About Niraj

I studied Physics at Oxford, completing my MPhys before returning as a Beecroft Research Fellow in Astrophysics. During my time there, I tutored Master of Physics students and interviewed Physics applicants for admission at St Catherine’s College. Earlier, I taught undergraduate astronomy during my PhD in the US, giving me experience across both UK and US university systems.

I specialise in advanced physics and STEM mentoring, and work best with motivated students preparing for competitive academic pathways.

My academic work has been part of major international astrophysics collaborations and I continue publishing as an Honorary Fellow. I’m also developing an early-stage project in space robotics.

I aim to give students the clarity, rigour and confidence that define good scientific thinking. My teaching emphasises deep understanding, logical reasoning and structured problem-solving - the same approach that shaped my own training.

About the lesson

I teach students to think clearly and solve problems confidently - the same approach I used when tutoring Physics at Oxford. Lessons are structured and calm, focused on understanding rather than memorisation.
