About Lucy

My teaching approach in Physics is gentle and reflective, focusing on practical scientific inquiry. I aim to make learning hands-on and meaningful, connecting theory to real experiments. Core topics include experimental design, data analysis, error propagation, and scientific reporting for laboratory work.

I guide students to plan experiments carefully, collect reliable data, and analyze results thoughtfully. Understanding and managing errors is emphasized to improve accuracy and confidence. I also help students communicate findings clearly through proper scientific reporting.

I enjoy working with DIY Scientists and Curiosity-Driven Learners, encouraging them to discover their own unique approach to investigation. Together, we explore how to conduct experiments confidently and creatively. This approach nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

By combining reflection, practical exercises, and guidance, I support students in excelling both conceptually and experimentally. The goal is to inspire learners to enjoy science, apply it meaningfully, and develop strong independent thinking for future exploration.

About the lesson

I am a Physics tutor with over 9 years of experience and an MPhil in Physics. My teaching takes a holistic and interdisciplinary approach, connecting physics with the fascinating world of art and restoration. I focus on how light interacts with pigments and materials, revealing the science behind the colors, textures, and techniques of artworks.

Through material analysis and conservation science, I demonstrate how physics helps preserve cultural heritage for future generations. I use art historical examples to make concepts engaging and relatable, showing how scientific principles apply in real-world contexts. Non-destructive testing methods are central to my lessons, allowing us to explore artworks safely without causing damage.

I work with art history students, conservationists, and anyone interested in the science behind cultural treasures. Together, we examine the physical properties of materials and the techniques used to study them. My lessons combine curiosity, experimentation, and critical thinking to make learning both meaningful and inspiring.
