About Michael

GERMAN:
Michael Ognianer was born in Moscow. His musical talent was discovered very early and he studied at the famous Central Music School at the Moscow State PI Tchaikovsky Conservatory. At the age of 5, Michael presented his first own works to Moscow audiences; at the age of 7, he gave his first piano recitals in renowned Russian concert halls, and at the age of 11, he was on tour in Western Europe and the USA.
Numerous awards followed: Mikhail was a prizewinner at the 2nd International Competition for Young Pianists "V. Krainev" (Ukraine) and at the Music Competition of the International Art Center "Interlochen" in Michigan (USA); a scholarship holder of the "Credo Bank Foundation" (Moscow); he was also accepted as a scholarship holder at the piano festival "Meranofest".
In 1997, the young musician moved to Germany. After completing his studies as a concert pianist at the Munich University of Music, Michael also explored jazz, world music, electronic music, sound design and literature.
Today, Michael is a crossover between various musical styles and a passionate globetrotter. He feels at home on the stage of a philharmonic hall as well as at the grand piano in a jazz bar. He is regularly engaged as a soloist, chamber musician, producer, musical director and composer at various concert events and music productions in Germany and abroad. He likes to present his works in Berlin clubs, in Indian yoga temples, in the Tyrolean mountains. Michael is directly inspired by different cultures and places and reflects this in his music - be it a classical piano evening, an electronic track, an ambitious orchestral composition or a spontaneously improvised piano meditation.

Was ich besonders an ihm schätze, ist die Kombination aus tiefem Verständnis für klassische Musik und großer Versiertheit in Jazz-Theorie und -Praxis. Im Unterricht ging es deshalb nie nur ums Spielen, sondern auch ums Verstehen – Harmonien, Form und musikalische Zusammenhänge.

Gleichzeitig ist Misha ein sehr umgänglicher Lehrer, der sich flexibel auf das Niveau und die Interessen seiner Schüler einstellt. Dadurch entsteht eine Atmosphäre, in der man sich musikalisch wirklich weiterentwickeln kann.
