About Vanessa

My name is Vanessa, I am 35 years old and the piano is my specialization instrument.
I started learning at about 4 years old with my mother who was a piano teacher.
In 2008, after finishing my degree in Anthropology, I decided to re-invest in my musical training and joined Escola Luiz Villas-Boas (Hotclube de Portugal) in the Piano Jazz course. Training that I continued with the jazz pianist Paula Sousa.
In 2015 I attended the Academia de Amadores de Música where I resumed the study of classical music for a few seasons.
I've been working as a professional musician for several years now in projects of various styles - jazz, rock, fusion among others. I also worked on multidisciplinary projects with theatre, dance and visual arts as a pianist and composer.
Between 2009 and 2014 I gave musical training in the extra-curricular activities of the 1st cycle schools of public education.
In 2012 I started giving private piano lessons to children and adults.
I am currently attending the Masters in Musical Sciences at FSCH - Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

About the lesson

PIANOpiano Methodology, developed by pianist and teacher Diana Namorado.

"While studying and teaching, I reflected on the current education system in conservatories, academies and music schools in general. I understood that musical language is learned, or should be learned, as someone who is discovering oral language. that we create bonds with what we hear. This is how we perceive, imitate and recreate the world around us. Imagine a baby or a child. He/she does not learn to read and memorize large texts before hearing someone speak, understanding the sounds or what a word means. Therefore, the process of learning music is, for me, the same as learning a language." Diana Boyfriend

The classes consist of understanding the sounds, the keyboard and learning the repertoire, which can be children's, popular, erudite or modern, through the following steps:

Piano

Internalization of music through singing and body movement;
Keyboard imitation and reproduction;
Repertoire learning;
Improvisation;
Technical and musical improvement – posture, dynamics and expression;
Rhythmic and melodic reading;
Harmonic understanding;
Composition;

Theory

Melody and Rhythm;
Notation;
Reading;
writing;
Compasses;
Shades;
Auditory Training;
Harmony;
Composition;

Matilde
