About Yvonne
I hold a B.Mus in Piano Performance and an M.Mus in Music Pedagogy, with 12 years of experience teaching students of diverse ages and abilities. My expertise includes piano technique, sight-reading, musical interpretation, improvisation, ensemble work, and performance preparation. I design lessons that combine structured technical exercises with creative exploration, interpretive analysis, and performance practice to cultivate both skill and artistry in students. I focus on individualized instruction, adapting my approach to each learner’s goals, strengths, and pace. Lessons include scales, repertoire study, improvisation, sight-reading, ensemble work, and performance preparation, ensuring students develop comprehensive musicianship, expressive ability, and confidence in performance. Beyond teaching, I actively participate in professional performances, continue studying advanced repertoire, and explore innovative pedagogical methods. I mentor students for recitals, competitions, ensemble collaborations, and collaborative music projects. Witnessing students grow technically, creatively, and expressively is incredibly rewarding. My mission is to foster pianists who combine skill, artistry, and confidence, enabling them to perform with emotional depth, collaborate effectively, and embrace music as a lifelong pursuit of joy, expression, and personal growth.

Piano lessons are structured to cultivate technical proficiency, expressive performance, and musical comprehension in a supportive and inspiring environment. I focus on developing finger independence, scales, arpeggios, chordal understanding, sight-reading skills, improvisation, and interpretive phrasing. Lessons integrate structured exercises with creative exploration, allowing students to engage with music in a meaningful way while building confidence and expressive capability. Students learn to approach repertoire thoughtfully, understanding not just the notes but the emotional and stylistic context behind each piece.
Lesson plans are tailored to each student’s level. Beginners receive guidance in hand positioning, reading basic notation, simple rhythmic patterns, and elementary repertoire. Intermediate learners advance to more complex pieces, refine technique, explore dynamics, phrasing, and stylistic interpretation. Advanced learners focus on performance preparation, complex compositions, improvisation, ensemble work, and developing a unique artistic voice. Every session balances technical mastery with creativity and interpretive insight, fostering both skill and expressive artistry.
Lessons also emphasize musical understanding beyond playing. Students engage with music theory, historical context, analysis, and performance practices to deepen comprehension. Performance simulations, duets, and ensemble exercises build confidence and collaborative skills. My goal is to nurture pianists who are not only technically adept but also expressive performers capable of connecting emotionally with music, collaborating with other musicians, and enjoying a lifelong journey of musical discovery, creativity, and personal growth.
