About Helena
I have 6 years of experience teaching piano to students ranging from beginners to advanced performers. I hold a B.Mus in Piano Performance and Music Education, giving me expertise in technical skills, repertoire, pedagogy, and musical interpretation. My teaching philosophy emphasises a combination of technical mastery, artistic expression, and creative exploration to develop well-rounded musicians.
In lessons, I incorporate scales, exercises, sight-reading, repertoire, phrasing, and improvisation, customising instruction to each student’s skill level, goals, and interests. I provide constructive feedback, guidance, and strategies to support steady progress and musical confidence.
Beyond teaching, I perform, attend workshops, and explore diverse repertoire to bring fresh and engaging content into lessons. Watching students grow technically, musically, and creatively is deeply rewarding. My mission is to nurture skill, artistry, and a lifelong love for piano.

Piano lessons are most effective when learners develop both technical proficiency and expressive musicality. I teach scales, finger independence, sight-reading, rhythm, dynamics, phrasing, articulation, repertoire, and improvisation. Lessons integrate structured exercises, repertoire practice, creative exploration, and ensemble opportunities to cultivate technical skill, musical understanding, and confidence. I foster an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and exploring musical ideas while developing self-assurance and artistry.
Lessons are tailored to the student’s level. Beginners focus on posture, hand positioning, basic exercises, simple repertoire, and rhythm. Intermediate learners refine technique, articulation, expression, and interpretative skills while practising more challenging repertoire. Advanced students work on complex pieces, improvisation, performance preparation, and stylistic interpretation. Each lesson balances technical rigour with creative exploration, supporting holistic musical growth.
The goal is to develop skilled, expressive, and confident pianists. Students strengthen technical ability, musicality, discipline, and creative expression. I provide personalised guidance, constructive feedback, and progress tracking to ensure steady improvement while maintaining motivation, engagement, and a love for music.
