About Miles
"I am a dedicated piano teacher with over nine years of experience and an Associate of Music in Piano Skills. Throughout my career, I have helped diverse students prepare for the unique demands of church worship leading and community theater accompanying. I also specialize in coaching keyboardists who want to perform confidently in professional wedding bands and lively commercial gigs.
My lessons are highly personalized and motivating, focusing on the specific musical goals that matter most to you. I believe that learning the piano should be an exciting journey that directly connects to real-world performance settings. I once spent weeks helping a local church pianist master smooth modulations between worship songs, which completely transformed their Sunday service.
We will work together on building strong chord chart reading skills, versatile playing styles, and the ability to listen closely to other musicians. Whether you are learning to back up a musical theater singer or want to fill a dance floor with a live band, I tailor my approach to your needs. "My teaching methodology is completely systematic and focuses on building strong visual to finger coordination from your very first lesson. We practice targeted sight reading exercises and learn techniques for speed reading music so you never feel lost on the page. We also work on instantly identifying intervals on the staff and improving your rhythmic accuracy while reading new pieces.
I provide dedicated, practical drills that help students learn to read music fluently without any hesitation. This structured approach works wonderfully for exceptionally gifted young children who need to stay constantly challenged and engaged. It is also perfect for busy adults playing for fun who want a clear, stress-free method to learn their favorite songs quickly.
I remember helping a student who used to freeze up when looking at a new page of music overcome their fear entirely. By breaking the notes down into simple visual shapes, they were soon able to play brand new pieces smoothly at sight. Through these methods, you will gain the skills and confidence needed to sit down and play any sheet music with ease."
