About Gurveen

I am a poet, writer, activist, thinker and a performer who has experimented with different genres of writing before finding a genre which works best for me: writing slam poetry and non fiction books.

I started writing in 4th standard and I am 25 years old now which has given me a writing experience of 15 years.

I published my first fiction book at the age of 15 and then second book at the age of 18.
From fiction writing, I found my love for poetry. From poetry, I experimented with proses, and then non fiction books.
I found out that writing for me, personally, is speaking my own truth; weaving it with the world’s truth because my truth is not just my truth. It represents a voice for many people who feel the way I do.

I find my strength in finding the simple mundane metaphors and twisting them with deeper meanings. All of storytelling and all of creative writing isn’t about not repeating themes. There will always be something which has been spoken before already. I find solace in trying to write these themes in my own unique voice. It helps me realise that even though what I write has been written before but it has not yet been written by me.

That’s who I am. A full time thinker. I don’t write art. I am art. And my art is me. There is no distinction.

About the lesson

My lessons will not be presented in a traditional way. I refuse to believe that just because I’m a teacher and you’re a student then your insights aren’t valuable.
I want to give you a safe space to realise that your own insights for your writing matters a lot. My lessons are shaped around how you can get better at writing not just by a method but also working at how you perceive things.

I believe every budding writer has its own distinct style. My responsibility is to help you find that voice inside you.

Creative writing isn’t about how better you can get in a short period of time. It is about consistency. And consistency comes with a lot of failures and patience. Therefore, my goal is to not just guide you on the subject matter but also push you towards consistent efforts.

If you allow me, we can work together and share our insights. The insights I have developed aren’t on surface level. They are experimented, tried and tested.

Together we can transform your journey and help you realise that-
It isn’t about what you write but how you write.
