About Olivia
I am Olivia Johnson-Ferguson and I am 20 years old. I am in my first year at the University of Edinburgh studying Politics. I have always loved teaching and role modelling for the younger generation as I have worked in a school before as a gap year assistant. After doing my GCSEs and A-Levels I want to be able to give students the guidance I never received. Often teachers have not gone through the same experiences as the current generation of students and it makes it harder for them to relate but I believe I can offer guidance that teachers may not be able to give in the classroom.

I believe in interactive lessons where the student is the leader of the session and I am guiding them where they need help. Often children need to develop more confidence in the classroom to ask questions and this allows them to learn better. I offer a safe space where children feel like they can question and learn without being judged. A typical length of a lesson would be around 45 mins as I have learnt this is best for maximum engagement otherwise students become distracted. I have mostly tutored Year 12 students studying politics, psychology and RS ages around 17/18 but recently I have taken more GCSE students studying psychology, politics and RS as I have realised much of my teaching skills are transferable.
