About Alexandra

Hi there! My name is Alex and I am an experienced Registered Paediatric Nurse and Student Preceptor/Tutor.
I completed my Master of Nursing Science at the University of Melbourne in 2019, and have since been working as a Registered Nurse and tutor for upcoming and newly Registered Nurses. I have four years of post-graduate experience working as a Registered Nurse at The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia as well as experience working as a Qualified Nurse Immuniser, and most recently as a Senior Paediatric Nurse in a regional Hospital Base in Mildura, Victoria.
My specialist areas include Paediatrics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Hepatic Medicine, and Metabolic Medicine.
Throughout my registered years, I have assisted Student Nurses both as a preceptor and via one-on-one tutorials with the aim of improving their knowledge and practice, as well as providing support and encouragement (as we both know your years in Nursing School can be challenging, to say the least!).
In working with you, I will aim to provide the best learning experience that will be guided by your personal learning needs and areas that you believe require attention. I will also help to reconceptualize areas of confusion to provide clarity through a different perspective.

About the lesson

Sessions with me will be completely driven by what you want to focus on and areas you feel need improvement/clarification in your own practice.
I have several years of experience working with students and junior nurses to improve their theoretical knowledge and standards of practice, including during student placements and running in-services at paediatric hospitals. In addition to this experience, I have completed a post-graduate course in preceptorship and education techniques.
Lessons will last for one hour on average, with the option to have longer or shorter sessions at your request. General areas to be covered should be emailed 24 hours in advance to maximize your experience during our sessions.
