About Melanie Mae T
Hello! I'm Teacha Mel, a Certified ESL Teacher and English major with over 9 years of teaching experience. I have completed 18 units toward my Master's degree and am committed to continuing my postgraduate studies while growing as an educator.
Throughout my teaching career, I have helped learners from different countries improve their English communication skills, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals. I specialise in speaking, grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, IELTS, and Cambridge exam preparation.
My lessons are engaging, structured, and tailored to each student's needs. Whether you're a beginner taking your first steps in English or an advanced learner preparing for an examination, I will guide you with patience, clear explanations, and constructive feedback.

My Teaching Approach and Methodology
My teaching approach is student-centred, interactive, and personalized to each learner’s needs, goals, and English proficiency level. As a certified ESL teacher with over nine years of teaching experience, I help students develop their communication skills, build confidence, and use English naturally in real-life situations.
I incorporate phonics techniques, IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet), linking sounds, word stress, sentence stress, intonation, and connected speech to help learners improve their pronunciation and fluency. Rather than simply memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules, students learn how English sounds work together in natural conversation.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-up and review: Start with a short conversation or review of the previous lesson to activate prior knowledge.
Introduction to the topic: Present the target vocabulary, grammar structure, pronunciation feature, or communication skill.
Guided practice: Use examples, phonics activities, IPA symbols, minimal pairs, linking sounds, and speaking drills when appropriate.
Interactive application: Practize through role-plays, discussions, reading aloud, storytelling, or real-life scenarios.
Feedback and correction: Identify areas for improvement, explain common mistakes, and provide practical strategies for improvement.
Lesson recap: Review key learning points and recommend personalized practice activities to reinforce learning.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor?
I combine structured English instruction with practical communication training. I pay close attention to pronunciation, connected speech, grammar accuracy, and fluency, helping students understand not only what to say but also how to say it naturally. I adapt my teaching techniques to different learning styles and provide constructive feedback in a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
My lessons integrate effective teaching resources and techniques, including phonics, IPA, Cambridge and Oxford learning materials, guided conversations, and exam-focused activities when needed.
