About Howard
Economics is part of a five year tutoring career during which I have taught 210 students, ranging from secondary school pupils to adult learners interested in practical financial literacy. My background gives me a strong appreciation for connecting theory to daily life rather than treating economics as an abstract subject disconnected from reality. I am an informal, conversational tutor, and my sessions often feel like a collaborative discussion rather than a traditional lecture. I take on both exam focused students and those simply curious about how economics applies to everyday life. Watching a student connect a textbook concept to the real world remains satisfying.

I organise my economics teaching around real world application rather than memorisation, meaning nearly every concept connects back to a current event or practical scenario the student can relate to. I usually introduce new topics through a real world question or example, because immediate relevance keeps motivation high during otherwise abstract theoretical content. I avoid long lecture style explanations in favour of short, focused mini lessons followed immediately by discussion and practice questions. Students keep a personal error log documenting misunderstandings and how they were resolved, which I review periodically. Sessions end with a short reflection question asking the student to explain the key idea covered.
