About Amandeep

Amandeep Saini is a Peer Tutor at Humber Polytechnic
specializing in English for Teaching of English as a Second
Language (TESL). She believes language education flourishes
when we blend structured teaching with real life experiences. She
has over ten years of experience as an elementary teacher and
tutoring students at various school levels including
teaching graduate students. She has actively participated in
numerous workshops, seminars and webinars throughout her
education and teaching. Additionally, she has been recognized
with awards and certificates for her volunteer work in education
for supporting others during the pandemic. She holds a Master's
Degree in Education and is currently pursuing her TESL

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is rooted in adaptability, engagement, and empowerment. I believe in tailoring each lesson to the unique needs, learning styles, and goals of my students. My methodology is built around three core principles:

Interactive Learning: I create a dynamic learning environment where students actively participate through discussions, problem-solving, and collaborative exercises. This helps reinforce understanding and encourages critical thinking.

Personalized Instruction: Every student is different. I assess their strengths, weaknesses, and objectives to craft lessons that resonate with their interests and ambitions. By leveraging their natural curiosity, I make learning both relevant and enjoyable.

Skill-Building for Independence: My goal is to make students confident learners. I focus on equipping them with strategies and tools they can use independently, fostering lifelong learning habits.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Introduction (5-10 minutes):

Brief review of the previous lesson.

Outline of the day’s objectives.

Quick warm-up activity to engage the student.

Core Content (30-40 minutes):

Presentation of new material using clear explanations, visuals, and examples.

Hands-on activities or practice exercises to apply concepts.

Opportunities for questions and interactive discussions.

Review and Reflection (10-15 minutes):

Recap of key points covered during the lesson.

Feedback on the student’s performance.

Assignments or follow-up activities to reinforce learning.
