About Maria

I’m a Primary Teaching Assistant with several years of experience working with children across KS1 and KS2. I’ve supported a wide range of pupils, including those with additional needs such as SEN, anxiety, and communication difficulties, and I take pride in building strong, trusting relationships with the children I work with.

I’m currently working in a primary school and will be starting my teacher training in September, which means I bring both hands-on classroom experience and a strong understanding of the current curriculum.

I’m naturally calm, patient, and approachable, and I understand that every child is different. I take the time to get to know each child properly so I can adapt my approach to suit their needs, whether that’s using visual supports, breaking learning into smaller steps, or simply giving them the confidence to try. I chose to work in education because I’ve seen first-hand the difference the right support can make to a child’s confidence and progress.

For many children, learning can feel overwhelming, especially if they are struggling or not being taught in a way that suits them. I’m passionate about helping children feel capable and understood, and about showing them that they can succeed with the right support.

I find it incredibly rewarding to see a child go from feeling unsure or frustrated to feeling proud of themselves and willing to try. Those small moments of progress and confidence-building are what make this work so meaningful to me.

Tutoring allows me to give children the time, attention, and personalised support they don’t always get in a busy classroom, and that’s something I truly value.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Maria, a Primary Teaching Assistant with several years of experience supporting children across KS1 and KS2, including those with additional needs such as SEN, anxiety, and communication difficulties.

I currently work in a primary school and will be starting my teacher training in September, so I bring up-to-date classroom experience alongside a strong understanding of how children learn best.

I specialise in 1:1 support in:

Maths and English (KS1 and KS2)
Phonics and early reading
Building confidence and reducing learning anxiety
Supporting children with SEN, including autism

My approach is calm, patient, and tailored to each child. I know that many children struggle not because they can’t do the work, but because they feel overwhelmed, lack confidence, or need learning presented in a different way. I focus on creating a safe, supportive environment where children feel comfortable to try, make mistakes, and grow.

Sessions are personalised to your child’s needs. I can:

Support school learning or follow specific targets
Create engaging, structured lessons
Use visual supports and practical activities where helpful
Adapt to your child’s pace and learning style

I am happy to work closely with parents to ensure sessions are effective and aligned with what your child needs most.
