About Aspen
My top concern as a tutor is being empathetic and acknowledging that the stuff you are learning is not easy! I've been there--especially with speech pathology. However, both then and now, I am dedicated, curious, and love to teach and learn. I often helped my classmates both in Italian and Speech Pathology. During my undergrad experience, I was CRLA Level 1 (beginning level) certified.
Additionally, while I will help you understand what I DO know, I will never act like I know what I DON'T know. Honesty and communication are crucial to me. For example, my availability will likely change once I graduate (9/1/26) and get a job as a speech pathologist. However, I will be available during the summer of 2026.

I like to work with Socratic questions and leading questions to provide scaffolding for students to answer the questions on their own. When possible, I use visuals and multimodal explanations and tools for students to better see a concept.
A typical lesson begins with some conversation (as it's just as important to me to know the student as what they're working on). I try to review content briefly from the last session, especially if the skills build on each other. Then, I will begin the topic by doing a quick evaluation of prerequisite skills. If possible, I like to include videos or whatever the student states is their preferred mode of learning.
While I am able to tutor Italian and BEGINNER Japanese for 3rd grade and up, Speech Pathology courses are generally for undergrads and grads only.
