About Manuela
I returned to Lisbon after a long absence as a student in the United States and England (at doctoral level, training in history) plus 9 years of experience as an academic translator and English Language teacher for adults and university students in Brazil. In addition to my PhD in History, I have a professional English language literary translation course, and TKT certification for teaching English as well as experience in preparation for TOEFL and IELTS.

I use the communicative method in my classes when creating activities or simulating situations that are appropriate to the student's learning objectives. I try to strike a balance between comprehension and oral and written expression, developing the student's weakest points and reinforcing the strongest. The first class is free and serves the purpose of creating a study plan that focuses on the areas that the student wants or needs to develop. Classes take place at Bairro da Madre de Deus in Lisbon or via skype.
