In order to improve technique and increase confidence, I always spend the first session examining bad habits. Auditioning is stressful enough and with my extensive experience, I have developed an eye for picking up on physical habits that most actors are nor even aware of and is usually the key factor in destroying their chances of getting a callback and landing a role. For monologue coaching, I do an individual assessment of personality , personal style, and character type to pick the best material for that actor. Once the material is chosen, we focus on "the moment before," the importance of the "first ten seconds" and the polishing of transitions. For cold reading technique, I work to improve confidence in "risk taking" and "physical movement to defeat "stiffness'" that is often apparent with cold reading auditions.
