About Matt
I am an illustrator, commercial storyboard artist and cartoonist with 15 years of professional experience working in advertising, editorials, and freelance art. I have a Technical Degree in Illustration and Design from Dawson College and a degree in animation from Concordia University. I personally find my passion in awakening ideas through poetical representation and conceptualising how the arts and sciences are truly two sides of the same coin.

Depending on your passion and goals my approach will vary but no matter what, I will always work to establish firm foundations for technique upon which a greater creative freedom can be built over time. Learning how to perceive the world around us is a lesson in itself, learning how the eye perceives space, depth, mass are fascinating "mind-body" concepts to explore as well as the laws of perspective, anatomy, and colour. By discovering those rules we become ever more free to convey our creative concepts from the realm of imagination into actuality. My focus is to keep things discovery and fun driven.

Perfect! Matt has a great manner with my son and has incredible patience and motivates in a manner that my 9 year old remains attentive and enthusiastic for the whole hour. I highly recommend Matt for tutoring for any age. He gets it.

Matthew not only taught me the fundamentals to get started on figure drawing, colour theory, and rendering, but also helped me get into my dream animation program I am now attending in college. Anyone who is new to drawing at any age can definitely guarantee a new understanding of drawing fundamentals and how to improve on your own.
