About Caitlyn

Hi! I’m Caitlyn — a Mandarin teacher passionate about making language learning fun, real, and a little bit adventurous. Over the past 10 years, I’ve taught students of all ages and levels across the world. Along the way, I earned a Chinese Primary School Teaching Certificate and an International Chinese Language Teaching Certificate.

In addition to teaching, I lived and worked in the UK for over three years, where I also earned my Master’s degree in Education. Apart from that, I spent five years training new Mandarin teachers — an experience that showed me how powerful great teaching can be. In my classes, you won’t just memorise words or drill grammar. We’ll chat, laugh, explore Chinese culture, and practice Mandarin in real-life situations that matter to you. I believe that when learning is personal, lively, and meaningful, real progress happens naturally.

In terms of myself, I’m an explorer at heart — I’ve traveled to 52 countries and love discovering new passions like scuba diving and skiing. I’m always curious about new ideas and different perspectives, and I believe that positivity, openness, and connection make both learning and life so much richer. About the lesson

I offer Chinese lessons tailored to different goals and learning styles, with a focus on helping students build confidence and use the language in real situations.

I am confident in teaching:
1. SACE Chinese：Supporting young students with exam preparation, including speaking, writing, and understanding exam requirements.
2. HSK (all levels): Helping students build a solid foundation in vocabulary, grammar, and overall language skills comprehensively.
3. Speaking-focused lessons: Suitable for learners who have studied through apps like Duolingo or self-study, and want to become more comfortable and fluent in conversation.
4. Business Chinese: Practical language for professional contexts, such as workplace communication and everyday office scenarios.
5. Travel Chinese: Short-term courses designed to help learners manage basic communication when travelling in China.

I believe learning Mandarin should be fun, engaging, and something you’ll actually look forward to! In my classes, we don’t just memorise words or drill grammar — that’s boring! Instead, we talk, laugh, and explore the language through real-life situations and meaningful conversations. My goal is to help you feel confident using Mandarin in the real world — not just on paper.

Whether we’re diving into modern Chinese culture, watching trending videos, or role-playing real conversations, every lesson is designed to be interactive, personal, efficient, full of energy and ‘YOU'.

Perfect! I got so much out of my very first lesson with Caitlyn. Her teaching method is down-to-earth and easy to understand, and the session was genuinely fun and engaging. She showed a tremendous amount of patience and was so understanding throughout.
From the moment I arrived, I felt not only respected but truly welcomed — there was a real sense of hospitality. The study environment was comfortable and relaxed, which made everything easier to take in.
Even within a single trial lesson, I walked away with a solid foundation in the basics of Chinese. I know there’s still a lot of ground to cover, but as someone learning Chinese for the very first time, this gave me a huge confidence boost. Highly recommend Caitlyn — thank you! :)

I studied with Caitlyn and we finished at HSK2,3 and 4 in five months. Caitlyn is definitely the funniest teacher I have ever had who always knows when to take a break and when to push on a bit. She can always see what my weaknesses were and made sure to focus on those. Through all my lessons Caitlyn always knew what words I kept forgetting and what grammars I had trouble with, and importantly how to keep me excited and focused.
