I had never seen Gloria perform until recently when I attended an evening of Motown music. There was just her and another singer all evening. She held the entire place - the Royal Albert Hall no less - with charisma, passion, amazing vocals and had the audience with her the whole time. No mean feat in such an arena. She tells a story in song so well and at times so movingly. There's no doubt in my mind the quality of her work matches any female singer you could name working on the West End stage or Broadway or in a recording studio - places she has graced with her amazing voice.
