About June

I have been teaching Spanish for the last 3 years. I have also taught in private tutoring schools in Rio, Brazil. Most of my lessons have been online over Google Meet, Skype, or Zoom. The lessons have been at all different levels - some lessons have been for beginners with no background knowledge and just want to have basic survival Spanish, while others have been for professional and business Spanish, reading, writing, dialogue, etc.

About the lesson

I am a 27-year-old friendly girl from Venezuela. I am easygoing, patient, and believe that every student learns in a unique way. I truly care about my students and really want to help them! I speak Native fluent Spanish, fluent Portuguese, and conversational English. I first like to find out what your goals are as each person's goals are different. From there, I make custom lessons just for you – no cookie-cutter lessons here! I really like to pay attention to pronunciation, accent, and grammar. The classes include support material, conversations, and mostly, I want to make sure you have fun and enjoy the lessons in a relaxed atmosphere.

Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?
I consider myself lucky to be able to speak this language because of my origins. I developed a passion for learning languages when I was young and began studying English and Portuguese. Through seeing how much learning these languages expanded my life, decided to give others the same gift and therefore became inspired to teach languages to others as well!
Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?
I would like to mention the renowned Mexican singer, Selena Quintanilla. She has been a significant figure in the Mexican Cumbia music genre and has been remembered for many years. Additionally, her music is well-loved by most of my students. She is an inspiration for learning Spanish through music.
Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?
Choosing one best phrase is quite challenging, but I will choose the phrase that I tell my students: "Se vive otra vida por cada idioma que se habla", which translates to "Another life is lived for every language spoken." It's a fact that learning new languages opens up opportunities for a better job, travel experience, learning about new cultures and music, also, making new friends becomes easy when you speak in their own language and more.
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
Speaking Spanish is extremely important to me as it defines my identity, who I am, where I come from, and my roots. It enables me to connect with my heritage and share my culture with others more effectively through teaching the language.
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
Learning Spanish can be challenging, especially when it comes to thinking and speaking in the language. However, with sheer determination and passion for the language, you can always find ways to practice and achieve your goals. Learning a new language requires a lot of practice and motivation. Still, if you dedicate even just 30 minutes a day to practicing and find and get yourself a tutor to guide you through the process, you will soon start feeling more comfortable and reprogram your brain to think in the new language.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.
When I was young, I learned both English and Portuguese. My mother is a native English speaker, but she didn't often speak the language at home. Sometimes I could hear her speaking English with her friends and family. Even though my mother didn't teach me English, I developed a great love for languages. In high school, I studied English, and after graduating, I attended language college to refine my speaking skills to the next level.
How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
I have been fortunate enough to travel to Latin American countries, all of which share the same language but have different accents and traditions. During my travels, I learned a great deal about unique idiomatic expressions that are not commonly used in my home country but are prevalent in others. One fascinating discovery I made was that certain words can have different meanings from one country to another. Additionally, I had the opportunity to experience and learn about various types of music and dances. I am grateful for this experience as it allows me to incorporate different cultures into my teachings and share them with my students.
What makes you a Superprof in language?
I consider myself a Superprof because I love languages, and I put a lot of love and effort into my lessons. Seeing my students happy and confident when they speak Spanish brings me great joy.

One of the things I appreciate about tutoring is the ability to customize my classes according to each student's needs and the freedom to create my own schedule and teaching methods.

At the end of the day, my genuine passion for teaching is what makes me a successful and effective teacher.
