About Nazarena

I am a professional tango singer, graduate of the Tango and Folklore programme at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory (Buenos Aires), offering online lessons specialising in tango singing, musicality for dancers, and tango music theory. Whether you are a singer, musician, or dancer looking to deepen your understanding of tango, my lessons provide a comprehensive and artistic approach to the genre. As a singer, composer, lyricist, and orchestra leader, I bring extensive experience in tango music. Originally from Argentina, I have dedicated my career to this genre, winning the Hugo del Carril competition (2014) and performing with various ensembles and orchestras. My current work focuses on electrotango, and I remain actively involved in the Argentine music scene. Additionally, I studied violin and art conservation, expanding my artistic vision. I also direct El Estudio Tango Contemporáneo, a space for musicians and singers interested in exploring contemporary tango. Since I am currently travelling in Europe, my lessons are fully online, allowing students from anywhere to learn with me.

About the lesson

Hello there!! Hope you're great!! :) My singing lessons are based on the idea that the voice is more than just a technical instrument—it is an expression of our emotions, body, and presence. I approach singing as a holistic experience, integrating both technical mastery and emotional well-being to help each student develop their voice with confidence, health, and artistic depth. I specialise in conscious singing, a method that connects vocal practice with mindfulness, allowing students to use singing as a tool for self-awareness, emotional balance, and personal expression. A Unique Vocal Technique for Tango Tango singing requires a deep understanding of its phrasing, expressivity, and musical structure. In my lessons, we work on vocal technique, but also on how to interpret tango with authenticity by studying its accompaniment styles and phrasing. I draw from various vocal methodologies to provide a well-rounded technique tailored to the demands of tango: Bel canto – Since tango has operatic roots, we incorporate elements of classical vocal technique to develop resonance, breath control, and vocal projection. Rabine Method – To encourage a healthy and sustainable voice, we integrate elements of this approach, which focuses on body awareness and vocal function. Speech Level Singing (SLS) – This technique allows for a smooth transition between registers, ensuring a natural, expressive, and tension-free voice. A Deep Musical Approach to Tango Beyond vocal technique, my lessons include a study of tango’s musical language, focusing on: Accompaniment styles (modos de acompañamiento) – Understanding how different tango accompaniments shape vocal interpretation. Phrasing (fraseo) – How to adapt vocal expression to the unique rhythmic and harmonic characteristics of tango. Emotional connection – Exploring the storytelling aspect of tango through phrasing and interpretation.
