About Andrew

I'm a professional tenor and voice teacher based in Oakland, with 15 years of professional performance experience and six years of teaching experience.

I'm currently completing an MA in Vocal Pedagogy through the Voice Study Centre and University of Essex, with a focus on vocal physiology, voice science, and evidence-based teaching.

My approach draws on both my professional performing background and my academic training. I work with singers across a variety of styles and experience levels, combining practical musicianship with a strong understanding of how the voice works.

About the lesson

My teaching combines an understanding of voice science with practical, individualized vocal training. I aim to help students understand how their voices work while developing reliable, efficient techniques they can apply to their singing.

Lessons typically include targeted vocal exercises, exploration of specific technical challenges, and application of those skills to repertoire. Depending on your goals, we might work on breath coordination, vocal registers, resonance, range development, stylistic choices, or preparing for auditions and performances.

I work with adult beginners, experienced singers, and motivated teens across a variety of musical styles, including classical, musical theater, and contemporary music.

Whether you're learning to sing for the first time or looking to refine an established technique, my goal is to give you the tools and understanding to develop your voice with confidence and independence.
