About Brian
I'm a professional video editor with 15 years of experience serving clients from San Francisco Bay Area tech companies to healthcare and financial institutions. Before transitioning to video, I spent 8 years as a tutor while earning my MA in Philosophy, where I explored art, meaning, and visual storytelling.
This combination - professional editing expertise plus extensive teaching experience - means I know how to break down complex concepts and meet students where they are. I don't just teach software; I teach you to think like an editor, understanding why creative choices work.

I use a project-based approach tailored to what you want to create. Rather than generic exercises, we'll work on your actual projects - whether that's a documentary, corporate video, YouTube content, or creative work.
My technique:
-Show, don't just tell: I'll screen-share and edit alongside you, narrating my decision-making process
-Active learning: You'll edit during our sessions while I provide real-time feedback
-Assignment-based: Between sessions, you'll complete specific editing challenges that build skills progressively
