About Lindsay
Hi, I'm Lindsay and I'm from Vancouver, Canada. I specialize in improving speaking fluency, and expanding your vocabulary so you can express yourself in a way that is precise and authentic.
I love discussing technology, personal development, the arts, culture, psychology, travel, films, books, and many other topics.
I have a neutral American accent which is clear and easy to understand. It's perfect for business, travel and passing exams. My classes are fun, interesting and relaxed.
I create all of my lesson content and use a unique method based on neuroscience and language acquisition research, and my 25 years of experience teaching ESL to adults.

Now... Think of an apple. What color is it? Red? Green? Yellow?
I can bet you anything that you did not just think of the text, "a-p-p-l-e" in your mind. That's because we think in images ️, not text. When we're not thinking in images, we're hearing a sort of internal voice.
So, I have two questions for you:
1) Why are all English lessons based on text and not on images, or audio and video clips?
2) Why are all English grammar and phrasal verb lessons based on questions that have only one correct answer?
I'll tell you why:
1) Because it's expensive to print images on paper. It would be incredibly expensive for an English textbook to print 8 full-color images to illustrate one vocabulary word.
2) Because in a class with one teacher and 30 students, the teacher has to tell 30 students instantly if their answer was right or wrong. You can't do that with open-ended questions.
If your English lesson doesn’t include lots of images, video and audio clips, and open-ended questions, you are just using a textbook that’s been put online.
Regarding my education and experience:
- I've been teaching English since 2001.
- I have a 360-hour Teaching ESL Linguistics certificate from Simon Fraser University.
- I have a degree in English Literature and Anthropology from Simon Fraser University.
- I'm a certified Cambridge Speaking Examiner.
- I'm fluent in Spanish and have a basic understanding of Mandarin.
I’ve taught people from a wide range of backgrounds, including:

Please note: my lessons are especially designed for adults who are low-intermediate to high-intermediate or advanced level English speakers. I could accommodate thoughtful teens aged 14 and up.
