About Shushan

I am a social scientist, university lecturer, and journalist with a deep passion for languages, cultures, and communication. As a native Armenian speaker fluent in English and Russian, and with an upper-intermediate level of French, I understand both the challenges and joys of learning a new language. My research interests revolve around diasporic communities, constantly immersing me in the dynamic interplay of multiple languages. This experience has shaped my ability to communicate clearly across languages while understanding how they intersect, adapt, and coexist. It also allows me to approach language as a living organism — something that evolves, influences and is influenced, and is deeply woven into culture, memory, and everyday life. With experience teaching diverse students, I adapt my methods to each learner — whether you're a heritage speaker reconnecting with your roots, a beginner, or someone preparing for academic or professional use of Armenian.

About the lesson

With a background in university teaching and journalism, I offer Armenian language lessons that are uniquely tailored to each student’s goals, interests, and learning style.

My approach is interactive and integrative — whether you're a beginner or aiming to refine your fluency, I create an immersive experience by including Armenian literature, music, and media. Having received national awards in literature during my school years, I bring a deep appreciation of Armenian cultural heritage to my teaching. We won’t just learn grammar — we’ll read, listen, and explore the language in its everyday setting!

I can teach in English, Russian, or French to support you at the beginning, or we can start in Armenian right away — depending on your preference. As you progress step by step, we’ll smoothly shift toward full immersion in Armenian.

Whether you are learning for family, travel, academic goals, or any other reason, I will make sure the learning process is both enjoyable and efficient!
