About Mikelyn
I have worked with college undergraduates for 4 years. I was a composition and rhetoric instructor at the University of Idaho, and I also have extensive professional writing experience working in corporate settings (Nike), literary journals, and academic settings (Washington State University). I hold a BA in Literature from Pacific University, an MA in English from the University of Idaho, and will be starting my PhD program in Literature at the University of York in Fall 2023.

My lessons can focus on writing literary analysis essays, understanding a text, persuasive and rhetorical essays, or writing professional documents (cover letters, resumes, applications, etc.). I can assist with formulating a clear argument, structuring an essay, and the revision process. In these lessons, we will talk about the type of writing or analysis you’re working on and figure out what it is you want to say (and how to say it) with the goal of leaving with a clear outline of the paper you will write. If you are already working on a paper, I can help you revise and organize your writing to be more effective. I can also help if you are struggling in knowing how to analyze a text or write persuasively in general. My lessons are best for AP literature and language students and all undergraduate students.
