About Leila
I am currently teaching AQA Psychology within an FE college, where I also completed my CertEd training (achieving 1st class within the course). Before becoming a Psychology teacher, I studied Psychology at degree level (achieving a high 2:1) where I was a mentor and ambassador for other students. This responsibility gave me the chance to coach other students with their examination preparation and essay writing skills. This experience ultimately gave me the inspiration to follow my passion for teaching and in a subject I love. I am passionate about academia and researching the field. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and researching different educational topics, such as cognitive load theory. This inspired me to start a master’s degree in education.

My focus is on active recall and helping my learners to recall and apply theory to the exam questions. We can also focus on the best ways to revise and retain knowledge. I specialise in the AQA A-level specification. These could be, research methods, memory, approaches, attachment, and psychopathology. For A2 students, I can offer in-depth recaps of the first-year content for the Paper 1 exam, as I understand how challenging it can be to revise prior content whilst learning new topics. I am able to teach my students how to make links between topics and effectively apply them to exam questions, which I can provide to my students. I am also able to proactively guide students when writing their longer essay answers.
