About Dawn

Hello! I am Dawn, a dedicated KS2 primary school teacher based right here in Bexley, with three years of full-time classroom experience teaching Years 3 and 5. Having graduated from the University of Warwick with studies in psychology and educational psychology, I bring hands-on expertise and a deep understanding of child development to every tutoring session. My teaching is driven by a genuine passion for understanding how we learn, allowing me to move far beyond superficial memorisation. I am committed to celebrating diversity and ensuring that content is genuinely solidified rather than merely performative, helping students truly grasp concepts from the ground up.

My approach focuses on meeting personal needs through tailored one-to-one tutoring that goes at the pace of the child and the use of visual examples and the concrete, pictorial, abstract approach to support the consolidation of learning. Furthermore, my specialised commitment to working with SEND children ensures that every learner receives inclusive, empathetic, and expertly tailored instruction. By helping students understand the why not just the how, I build lasting transferrable skills. Above all, my ultimate goal is to build confidence in your child, transforming academic challenges into milestones of self-belief that will empower them for years to come.

About the lesson

Whether your child needs targeted support with core subjects or comprehensive SATs preparation, I specialise in helping pupils master KS2 maths and English in a supportive, engaging atmosphere. With a special interest and dedication to working with SEND children, I adapt my teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles, creating a nurturing space where every student can thrive. Let’s work together to unlock your child’s full potential and make learning an enjoyable, rewarding journey.

Lessons can be delivered conveniently either virtually through an interactive online platform or in-person at your convenience. In-person sessions are available Monday through Friday after 5:00 PM, as well as on Saturday and Sunday mornings. To ensure we start on the right foot, your child's first session will feature a comprehensive placement test to evaluate where they are starting from and discuss their specific needs, allowing us to build a detailed, customised intervention plan.

Targeted for KS2 students (Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 - Ages 7-11), each session typically lasts 90 minutes to allow plenty of time for focused learning, exploration, and practice.

A typical tutoring session with me is structured, engaging, and thoughtfully paced to ensure your child feels fully supported. We always begin with a warm review of previous learning to reactivate prior knowledge and build confidence before diving into new material. Using the proven concrete, pictorial, and abstract approach, I introduce concepts hands-on using manipulatives and visual aids before moving to written problems, ensuring students truly understand the "why" rather than just the "how." Midway through our 90-minute session, learners enjoy a well-deserved brain break where they can grab a snack, do some colouring, or play with my pets to unwind. Afterwards, we resume with tailored literacy or numeracy tasks using my prepared resources designed specifically for their needs. We wrap up with a quick mini-assessment of the new learning covered during the session to celebrate progress, and optional, targeted homework may be provided to gently reinforce skills until our next session.

In-person (£22/hr) - £33 for a 90 minute session
Online - (£22/hr) - £33 for a 90 minute session

Travel :
