About Catherine
I am currently an online English teacher, working part-time, with a base of regular students. Seeing the progress they have made in their fluency and level of understanding is so rewarding, and my students have fast developed their skills over the months we have spent together. I have recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Psychology and achieved a high 2:1. I would like to continue further education in Educational Psychology and believe tutoring to be invaluable experience to contribute towards my career prospects. I am capable and well-versed on assessment criteria and grade boundaries for both A-Level and University levels.

I believe patience is key to maximising one's potential as a tutor, and through my experience have developed a flexibility that allows me to alter my teaching approach according to individual needs. As I currently teach English to Chinese students, I have really been able to continue to strengthen such a skill, particularly as some of my students started off unable to speak English at all, so my communication and teaching methods were challenged and I have to adapt very quickly. My tutoring process would involve an initial evaluation to assess strengths and weaknesses in Psychology and then would follow course structure, lending more focus to where is needed most. Can dedicate whole sessions to essay writing, structure, hitting the assessment criteria, revision techniques and am happy to adapt this process if and when needed.
