About Marjan
Hi! I'm Marjan, a Psychology graduate from the University at Buffalo, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Dean's List distinction. I have over a year of teaching experience working with preschool and primary school students, and I genuinely enjoy helping children grow into confident, independent learners.
As a teacher, I believe every child learns differently. That's why I tailor each lesson to suit the student's pace, strengths, and learning style. My lessons are engaging and encouraging, creating a safe environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes.
I have experience teaching children from early years through primary school, particularly in English, phonics, reading, comprehension, and writing. My background in psychology has also given me a deeper understanding of child development, motivation, and effective learning strategies, allowing me to better support each student's academic and personal growth.

My teaching approach focuses on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe every child learns differently, so I adapt my teaching methods to suit each student's learning style, strengths, and areas for improvement.
For younger learners, I use interactive activities, visual aids, games, and hands-on exercises to keep lessons enjoyable while reinforcing key concepts. For primary school students, I break down complex topics into manageable steps, provide guided practice, and gradually build independence and confidence. I also regularly assess students' understanding and adjust my teaching strategies to ensure steady progress.
A typical lesson lasts between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the student's age, attention span, and learning needs. Lessons usually include a review of previous concepts, introduction of new material, guided practice, independent work, and feedback. Phonics would be 1h ($25/h) while Primary English would be 1.5-2h ($35/h).
I have over 1 year of teaching experience working with preschool and primary school students. I worked as a Teacher at School of Concepts, where I teach children aged 2 and above across Discovery Play and Primary English programs.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Magna Cum Laude) from the University at Buffalo with a GPA of 3.663/4.000. My background in psychology has equipped me with a strong understanding of child development, learning processes, motivation, and effective communication strategies.
My lessons are best suited for preschool and primary school students, particularly those seeking support in English, reading, literacy development, foundational learning skills, and confidence building.
